Alissa Bailey
MA, LPC
With over 15 years of experience in the mental and behavioral health fields, Alissa’s clinical approach stems from training under esteemed clinicians in the fields of internal family systems (IFS), psycho/neurophysiology, trauma, nervous system regulation and behavioral research. She works well with those navigating neurodivergence, chronic illness, complex trauma, grief and loss, and major life transitions.
Her clients are often highly-sensitive and deeply impacted by both their inner and outer experience. She is experienced in working with clients whose high levels of self-awareness lends itself to deep self reflection, but also self-criticism. Alissa offers the opportunity to move beyond hyper-thinking and shame, and guides clients into a more functional approach of self-relating. She helps clients in overcoming their anxiety, depression, dissociation, trauma, intrusive thoughts, emotional reactivity, boundaries, and interpersonal challenges.
She holds an MA in Mindfulness-Based Clinical Counseling & an Undergraduate Degree in Behavioral Psychology. Her experience includes working in community mental health, horticultural therapy, residential treatment facilities, and neurofeedback clinics. This work has encompassed supporting individuals across a range of needs, from crisis intervention to long-term therapeutic support. Her background gives her extensive knowledge in neurophysiology, nervous system regulation, and behavioral change. She has also worked as an educator in programs teaching mindfulness-based practices, rites-of-passage, lucid dream-work, and spent her undergraduate years offering therapeutic support to autistic children and adults with complex support needs. “Much of my work is helping highly sensitive people find functional, kinder approaches to self-relating that free them of self-criticism & shame. While I work with a wide array of clients, I work especially well with those navigating grief, anxiety/depression, neurodivergent burn-out, trauma, chronic health issues, as well as men seeking therapy for the first time or who are discouraged from past attempts.”
“Vital Parts” refers to the idea that all parts of ourselves are crucial to a fulfilling existence, and are implicitly worthy of our understanding and care. No part of an ecosystem is insignificant, all pieces are necessary to the whole and have a function, even when that system is operating ineffectively. Our internal worlds are as intricate and rich as an ecosystem, and similarly, thrive when we tend to them well. Each part plays its role and longs operate healthfully. When we find tools that allow these parts to come into balance, they enrich and direct our lives with greater meaning and clarity. Vital Parts Psychotherapy offers an invitation to look at yourself deeply and curiously, and find the answers within you that work best for you.
